1455 A Place for Writers Author Series at Handley Regional Library System continues with author Nathan Leslie on January 18th at 3PM. Leslie will read from his award-winning series, Hurry Up and Relax. Leslie is the recipient of the 2019 Washington Writers Publishing House Fiction Award. Leslie’s nine previous books of fiction include Three Men, Root and Shoot, Sibs, and The Tall Tale of Tommy Twice. He is also the author of a collection of poems, Night Sweat.

Our next author talk will be on October 14th at 6;30PM at Handley Library. Author Sue Jaffarian will talk about her recent book Finding Zelda and about writing on the road full-time. Jaffarian is the author of three critically acclaimed mystery series:  The Odelia Grey, the Ghost of Granny Apples, and the Madison Rose Vampire Mysteries. She also writes the Winnie Wilde romance series, as well as general fiction and short stories. The program is free and open to the public.

Our next author talk is Private Confederacies: The Emotional Worlds of Southern Men as Citizens and Soldiers on September 14th at 2PM at Handley Library. Author James J. Broomall will show the crisis of the war and a forced a reconfiguration of the emotional worlds of the men who took up arms for the South. The talk will also focus on returning to civilian life and how Southern veterans questioned themselves as never before, sometimes suffering from terrible self-doubt.
