Handley Regional Library System is excited to announce a program where individuals can get one-on-one job seeker help from NW Works at Handley Library.  Held the 2^nd and 4^th Wednesdays of each month from 11AM-12PM, the public can meet with a representative from NW Works for help searching for a job, filling out an application, making a resume, and other job search related tasks. 

We sat down with Donna and Katie to learn about Youth Summer Reading 2021, prizes, how to register, and Info Please, a free online research tool for young learners!

“Expect the Unexpected” Friends Used Book Sale Announced May 17-22 at Bowman Library

The Friends of the Handley Regional Library System Used Book Sale is returning just in time for summer reading and modified for safety due to COVID-19.

The Friends of Handley Regional Library System will hold their annual meeting on May 19^th from 7:00PM-8:30PM online through Zoom.  The meeting is open to the public where the Friends will formally announce the slate of officers for the upcoming year where members of the Friends can vote during the session.  After voting, Dr. Karen Huff, from Shenandoah University, will give a presentation titled, Shenandoah University's Children's Literature Conference:  Continuing the Legacy of Nancy Larrick Crosby.

Book Donation Drop at Bowman Library on May 8^th 9AM-12PM

Handley Regional Library System announces several activities for Star Wars Day:  May the 4^th be With You.  Kids ages 6-12 can pick-up activity kits at Bowman Library on May 4^th and Handley Library has activity kits available now. 

There is also a special, interactive virtual program on Tuesday, May 4^th at 4:30PM complete with Star Wars trivia, a snack and craft idea, and a chance to win a prize planned on Zoom.  Registration is required. 

Handley Regional Library System invites adults 18+ to spend Saturday night with library staff playing online tabletop games on Discord.  We will have a wide selection of games to choose from on BoardGameArena.com and both voice and text chat channels open throughout.

Handley Regional Library System is joining libraries across the US to celebrate National Library Week April 4-10, 2021.  National Library Week 2021 is an observance sponsored by the American Library Association highlighting the valuable role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and communities. 

We have launched a new service designed for children under 12 called BookMatch Junior!
