Are you researching your family’s history? Have you hit a brick wall in your research? Do you have tips/strategies that you can share with others? If so, Family History Hunters is the group for you!
This genealogical group meets every month on the second Thursday at the Benham Gallery in the Handley Library at 12:30. For each meeting, there is a focus: a topic that the group will delve further into and share success stories and struggles with. For this month’s meeting the group’s focus is researching your Irish ancestors. Irish heritage can be a challenging topic of research for a number of reasons: there was a loss of records during the civil conflicts of the early twentieth century, looking for information in a time prior to civil record keeping, and the need for researchers to go to individual church records for details about ancestors. These can lead to several brick walls. Archives volunteer Janet Daniels will be leading a discussion on the basics of Irish genealogical research and offer tips and resources to break through those brick walls.
Make a plan to come to the meeting whether you are a seasoned Family History Hunter member, or person who is just getting started in their family research. Hope to see you there!
