Handley Regional Library System announces the following weekly updates and programs to the community:

New 3-Part Virtual Series, Exploring the Library, Connects the Community to Public Library Services

Sponsored by iHeart Media, we have a special 3-part series designed to educate the public on different ways to use library services in March titled Exploring the Library.  These virtual sessions will be offered through Zoom with registration required.  Topics include tips and tricks on using the online catalog to access materials and online content, hidden treasures on the library website, and a deep-dive session exploring the 24/7 Digital Library.  Sessions run March 10, 17, and 24 at 7PM.  More information and registration available at www.handleyregional.org/exploringthelibrary 


Winnie the Pooh Celebration + Grab and Go Kits

We are turning the Children's Room at Bowman Library into the Hundred Acre Wood and we invite you along for this virtual adventure!!  Join us for our virtual celebration on March 6th at 11AM while we celebrate all things Winnie the Pooh and friends through activities, books, and crafts!  We also have grab and go kits available at Bowman Library filled with activities and crafts available now where you can stop by and pick up some fun! 


Rediscover History with Your Library Card + Shenandoah Valley Heritage Day

History comes to life at Handley Regional Library System!  With our digital library and your library card, you can get access to powerful historical and genealogy tools like ancestry.com for family research, HeritageQuest for Revolutionary War records, “Fold 3” of for US military records, stories, and photos, plus thousands of online records and photographs in the Stewart Bell Jr. Archives digital collections.  Access this in our Digital Library on our homepage at www.handleyregional.org


Plus, don’t miss the Shenandoah Valley Heritage Day on Saturday, March 6thThe Stewart Bell Jr. Archives, as a joint sponsor, helped plan the program with the official host being Museum of the Shenandoah Valley.  The talks will be virtual this year, are free and open to the public with registration, and will focus on genealogy, the 1924 Virginia Racial Integrity Act presented by the Library of Virginia, and Not Your Normal Sources: Genealogy in Archival Collections presented by Zach Hottel, Archivist, Shenandoah County Library.  You can register at www.themsv.org
