Yearbooks in the Stewart Bell Jr. Archives

Have you ever wondered what your mom looked like in high school? Are you trying to remember the name of the kid you sat next to in English? Are you curious about how fashions have changed from poodle skirts and saddle shoes to duck tails and big hair?

The Stewart Bell Jr. Archives might be able to help you! Our collections include yearbooks from many area schools including the Shenandoah Valley Academy (1908-1934), Handley High School (1921-2018), James Wood High School (1951-2018), Sherando High School (1994- 2018), Millbrook High School (2004-2018), and Mountain View Academy (2001-2018).

We also have a number of yearbooks from schools that closed their doors many years ago, including the Douglas School and Winchester Memorial Hospital Nursing School, as well as yearbooks from the old Frederick County elementary and high schools that have now been consolidated into newer, larger buildings.

Come spend an hour or even an afternoon in the Archives searching through the many yearbooks in our collection. The Archives is open to the public Monday to Wednesday, 1pm to 8pm, and Thursday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm.

We continue to acquire newly published yearbooks and welcome donations of old yearbooks. To learn more or donate, contact us at archives@handleyregional.org or telephone 540-662-9041, ext. 17.
