Handley Regional Library System offers local adults scholarships to earn a diploma through Career Online High School

The Handley Regional Library System (HRLS) is providing scholarships to adults in in our service area to earn a private high school diploma online and gain career skills.

Through a partnership with Career Online High School (COHS), HRLS supports adults with earning their high school diploma and a career certificate. The library will be granting a limited number of scholarships to ADULTS AGES 20 AND OLDER. The fully online high school program provides a 24/7 online classroom, personal academic coaches, and real-world career training.

“We are thrilled to be a conduit to assist patrons further their education through this free, online program and be able to add another valuable service that those in the community may not otherwise pursue,” said John Huddy, Handley Regional Library System Director.

“Libraries offer a safe, supportive environment to foster learning and community. Our online education program for adults is a natural extension of library services that empower adults to learn and grow,” said District Superintendent Dr. Howard Liebman. “COHS students receive support from HRLS staff as well as from our academic coaches. Together, they help students achieve their goals.”

In addition to an accredited diploma, COHS students graduate with a certificate in their chosen career path plus a resume, cover letter, and other tools to start or advance their careers.

“Seventy-six percent of our graduates pursue or plan to pursue post-secondary education including community colleges, vocational schools, and bachelor’s degree programs,” said Dr. Liebman.

A fully online program accredited by Cognia/SACS/NCA/NWAC, COHS has partnered with more than 1,800 library locations across the country.
