                                A JOURNEY ACROSS COLOMBIA

Is a duet formed by two Colombian musicians: the Soprano Diana Restrepo and the guitarist Juan Sossa. This project explores several different genres across Latin America, and particularly Colombia, trying to outline the diversity of regions and cultures existent in the region. Diana Restrepo  -- Singer, Vocal pedagogue and researcher of traditional Colombian music. She obtained a Masters in musicology, at Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá, Colombia. Her dissertation research  was made on the “Canta de Guabina", a very traditional musical genre from Colombian Andes. Worked for 12 years as Singing professor at Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas. She was part of the vocal band “N´voz”  renowned for imitating musical instruments with the voice; with that band, Diana had the chance to travel throughout Colombia performing in the most important concert halls nationwide. 

JUAN SOSSA -- Guitarist and Colombian plucked string instrument player. Has combined classic academic formation with popular and traditional music practices, both from Colombia and Latin America. He has approached different Colombian string instruments, such as Tiple, Cuatro, Requinto, and both Bandolas Andina and Llanera. He was Guitar professor at Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas 2003-2018. In 2015, He obtained his Master´s degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia.He is currently studying with the renowned professor Julian Gray, to obtain his Doctoral degree as a guitar performer at the Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia.
