Chess Tournament Schedule
Date: November 9, 2024
Location: Bowman Library
Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

10:00 AM – 10:15 AM: Registration and Check-in
– Participants arrive and check in for the tournament.
– Finalize any last-minute registrations.

10:15 AM – 10:30 AM: Opening Remarks
– Welcome participants and explain the tournament format.
– Outline the rules and schedule for the day.

10:30 AM – 12:30 PM: Round 1 – Round 4
– Round 1: 10:30 AM – 10:50 AM
– Round 2: 10:50 AM – 11:10 AM
– Round 3:  11:10 AM – 11:30 AM
– Round 4: 11:30 AM – 11:50 AM

11:50 AM – 12:00 PM: Break
– Quick break for players to stretch and prepare for lunch.

12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Lunch Break
– Participants can enjoy lunch and socialize.

1:00 PM – 2:30 PM: Round 5 – Round 6
– Round 5: 1:00 PM – 1:20 PM
– Round 6: 1:20 PM – 1:40 PM

2:00 PM – 2:30 PM: Sudden Death Round
– The top finisher from each of the four sections will compete in a championship quad to determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
– Each match will be played in a 20-minute format.

2:30 PM – 3:00 PM: Awards Ceremony
– Announce the winners and distribute awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.
– Acknowledge all participants and thank them for attending.

2nd Place $50 Visa Gift Card

3rd Place $25 Visa Gift Card

General Information: Chess sets and boards will be provided. You are encouraged to bring your own clocks.

Chess enthusiasts age 16 and older are needed to assist with logistics, including set up and off loading. Please contact Rene Picota to assist.
