Join the Friends of Handley Regional Library System for their Annual Meeting Celebration. After a brief business meeting and a presentation to the library, hear author P. O'Connell Pearson speak about her historical nonfiction books for ages 10 and up. Pearson has written about women pilots during World War II, young men building and reclaiming national parks in the 1930's, segregation in Virginia in the 1950's and the national scandal Watergate. Winchester Book Gallery will be on hand selling Pearson's four books, Fly Girls, Fighting for the Forest, Conspiracy, and We Are Your Children Too, for signing. You could also win a Handley Library prize pack or book prizes just for attending! The winner of the Handley Library Stained Glass raffle will be chosen at the end of the program-purchase a raffle ticket to help support the library here!
Patricia O’Connell Pearson is a former history teacher and history content specialist. Always enthusiastic about sharing stories of history, she earned her MFA in Writing for Young People from Lesley University and is the author of four nonfiction histories from Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers. When she is not researching or writing, she can often be found talking about history as a volunteer with the National Park Service in Washington, DC. She lives in the City of Fairfax, Virginia.
