Ready, Set, GROW!!
Get ready for Clarke County Library's first plant & seed swap!
Are you a gardener who started too many seeds and now you've got a bunch of seedlings destined for the compost pile? Or maybe you got excited and purchased way more seeds than you can possibly use? Or maybe your succulent had more babies than you know what to do with? Well, gather up your extras and join us on Saturday, May 17th from 11 am to 2 pm for a plant & seed swap as well as some workshops and activities with our local Master Gardeners!
How it works: Come into the library and grab some free paper cups and plant labels (or bring plants in any type of labeled, individual container). Bring your extra seedlings, plants, seeds and bulbs to share with the community and go home with something new. Bring one, take one! PLEASE make sure to label everything!
We will also be joined by the Virginia Cooperative Extension Northern Shenandoah Valley Master Gardener Association, who will be there to answer questions ("Ask a Master Gardener") and will also give informational presentations on beginner gardening and on native plants. They will also have their seed lending library on hand to fill any last-minute planting needs.
What to bring: seeds (opened packages are fine), bulbs, sprouted cuttings, seedlings (houseplants, succulents, flowers, fruits, veggies, shrubs, bushes, and trees are all okay)
What NOT to bring: fertilizer, soil, chemicals, tools, books, guides, any invasive species (not sure if your plant is invasive? Check the VA Dept of Conservation and Recreation website at www.dcr.virginia.gov)
