Event Details
As part of the local Hungry for History event, Stewart Bell Jr. Archives is proud to invite author Diane Flynt to speak about Virginia's historic and thriving apple industry. Diane Flynt is the founder of Foggy Ridge Cider, the South’s first cidery, and author of Wild, Tamed, Lost, Revived: The Surprising Story of Apples in the South. She will discuss the South's long history and vibrant future in apples and cider. Following her talk, she will be joined by local cidermaker and apple grower David Glaize, of Winchester’s Glaize Orchard and Old Town Cidery, for a discussion about the industry today. Following the author talk, the Winchester Book Gallery will be here to sell Diane's book, which she will be available for signing. In addition, the Archives will have a special pop-up exhibit featuring images and documents from our collection telling the story of the Apple Industry in Frederick County.
