SCOPE AND CONTENT: The John Armel Papers collection contains letters written by Private John F. Armel of Company K, 107th Pennsylvania Infantry, to his wife and family. The letters are written between December 1864 and June 1865, when Armel was serving at Petersburg, Virginia. The letters have been transcribed.

BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: Private John F. Armel was drafted into Company K, 107th Pennsylvania Infantry on September 21, 1864 and was discharged on June 7, 1865.
