Billings Family Papers

Scope and Content: This collection contains information about the Billings family. Included is a Confederate States of America (CSA) pension application for E.S. Billings, Thomas Billings’ family group sheet covering 1481 to 1863, a biographical sketch of Edgar Josiah Hailey, and a few letters and photographs. Mrs. Lu Neal Hailey compiled this material in 1998.

Biographical/Historical: E.S. Billings was born in Mt. Jackson, VA in 1846. His family had moved to Virginia from Connecticut in 1844. He served in VA 11^th Cavalry, Company I. His entire family moved to Texas in 1870. He married Sarah Harding Brown in Texas. E.S. Billings died on November 21, 1926 in Texas.
