SCOPE AND CONTENT: This collection contains an account book from a business owned by Oliver M. Brown from 1844 to 1849. The account book includes miscellaneous notes concerning personal business, bank account notes, purchase notes, an account ledger, and a listing of who owed him money.
BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: Oliver M. Brown, son of Samuel Brown, was born on March 6, 1815. In 1838 he married Susan C. Baker (d. 1880) and later began to run the successful Baker mercantile. He also owned several lots in Winchester. Brown died on December 14, 1885.
