SCOPE AND CONTENT: This collection contains genealogical materials on selected families, the Revolutionary War records for Daniel Morgan and other soldiers, was well as some War of 1812 soldiers. Boxes 1-3 are exclusively about genealogical inquiries and responses by Julian Baker, c. 1940s; folders arranged by surname researched. (9 boxes) Last updated 04/16.

BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: Julian W. Baker was born on November 15, 1889 to Julian W. and Mary Catherine Stump Baker in Frederick County, VA. He attended Shenandoah Valley Academy and was in the real estate and insurance business prior to entering the antique business in 1942. He was assistant county clerk for a number of years during the 1930s, and was appointed county clerk in 1939 and served in that capacity until 1941. He died of a heart attack on March 10, 1949 at his home in Winchester, VA. and was buried in Mount Hebron Cemetery. Baker was never married.
