DATE: 1795-1984.

SCOPE AND CONTENT: The Robert Lee Gray Collection contains investment papers, correspondence, and other papers of Robert Lee Gray Sr. (1862-1927), as well as correspondence from Robert Lee Gray Jr. (1886-1953) and John DeKay, a correspondent living in Germany.  There are genealogical records including family records from the Gray family Bible and cassette tapes of discussions on family history.  It also contains papers from the first annual Apple Blossom Festival in 1924.

BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: Robert Lee Gray (1930-2018), the donor of this collection, was a resident of Winchester, VA, a U.S. Navy Veteran, and a professional engineer.  In 1964, he married his wife Berny, with whom he had two children.  In 1970, he founded Gray Engineering in Winchester.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Royal Arch Masons, and Knights Templar Commandry #12.
