SCOPE AND CONTENT: This collection contains articles, memorabilia, and photographs of the Brill, Spaid and Walker families in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries from West VA and PA. Elaine Walker Hall, a descendant of these families, compiled this material. The collection also contains items on the Winchester and Wardensville Railroad as well as World War II.

BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL:  Elaine Walker Hall was born on September 6, 1924 in Pennsylvania. She became  the executive director of the Winchester-Frederick County Historical Society from 1981 until her retirement in 1989. Hall was also an avid genealogist, and an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She died on January 30, 2003 and is buried at Mount Hebron Cemetery.
