SCOPE AND CONTENT: The William and Virginia Miller Collection contains materials about the history of the Winchester-Frederick County, Virginia area, including business and organizational records, historic houses, and genealogical material.

BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: William Miller (1927-2009) was born in Ohio, and later moved to Winchester, VA. He married Virginia Miller in 1968. Miller worked as an accountant and as an auditor with the Virginia Department of Taxation. Virginia Miller (1924-2004) was born in Oklahoma but lived most of her life in Winchester. She had an avid interest in local history and a member of the Winchester-Frederick County Historical Society. She also co-authored several books on local history.

The collection includes a ledger owned by Thomas H. “Tom” Sprint, who ran an auto accessory and tire business. City Directories indicate that the business was in operation from the 1920s to the 1940s at two locations: 28 N. Braddock Street (1927-1944) and 108 N. Loudoun Street (1936-1944).
