SCOPE AND CONTENT: The Mary Lou Mulvey Collection contains ephemera concerning the City of Winchester, Virginia, to include a 1913-1914 catalogue from Fort Loudoun Seminary and programs for the 1900 celebration of Charles B. Rouss.
The collection also includes genealogical material about the Hoffman and Chenoweth families. The bulk of material concerns the life of Captain Edmund Lee Hoffman of Berkeley County, West Virginia. There is a journal detailing the daily management of his farm from 1862 to 1882, correspondence, service record, and a roster and promotion information for the 15th West Virginia Infantry.
BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: Mary Lou Mulvey is a resident of Winchester, Virginia. Edmond Lee Hoffman was born around 1839 in Berkeley County, Virginia (now West Virginia) and spent much of his life as a farmer. In 1861, he enlisted in Company D of the 2nd Virginia Infantry. He was wounded at the Battle of Kernstown, and paroled at Winchester, VA, on April 24, 1865. Hoffman died at his home on September 27, 1904, and was buried at Green Hill Cemetery in Martinsburg, WV.
