Scope and Content: This collection contains the deed for Winchester, VA’s National Cemetery along with a brochure, news clippings, and other materials relating to the cemetery. Also included is a record of interments.

Biographical/Historical: The National Cemetery, located in Winchester, VA, was dedicated in 1866. Its five acres contain the graves of 4491 Union dead and 2381 unknown dead. The cemetery grounds contain special monuments set up by Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, memorials to the 6th Army Corps, the regimental monuments of the 3rd and 34th Massachusetts, the 12th, 13th, and 18th Connecticut, the 114th New York, the 123rd Ohio, and the 8th Vermont.
