SCOPE AND CONTENT: The Solenberger Family Papers contains materials concerning the Solenberger family covering a period between 1850 and 1939. The collection includes diaries written by Barbara Stauffer Solenberger between 1913 and 1920. Stauffer Miller, a descendant of Mrs. Solenberger, has transcribed the diaries and the collection includes his research notes.

BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: The Solenberger family have been land and business owners in the Winchester-Frederick County area since the mid-nineteenth century. Barbara Stauffer was born on July 18, 1840, in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. She married Noah Wingert Solenberger in 1861 and moved to Winchester with him and their two children in 1866. The Solenbergers subsequently had four more children.
