SCOPE AND CONTENT: The Lucy Jane Welsh Collection contains records from the Carpers Valley Methodist Episcopal Church, including membership information and other administrative documents. The collection also includes copies of Bible records and newspaper obituaries from the Renner and Carpenter families.
BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: The Carpers Valley Methodist Episcopal Church was organized in 1857. Presently the Church is aligned with the Greenwood United Methodist Church in Frederick County, VA. It is located on Route 723, off U.S. 50 East.
Lucy Jane Welsh (1941 – 2011) was the daughter of Douglas Barton and Ruby Renner Golightly and a lifelong resident of Winchester and Frederick County, Virginia. She was an active member of the Shenandoah Valley Genealogical Society.
