As one year ends and we look forward to the next, we hope this letter finds you and your family well. Handley Regional Library System is proudly wrapping 2022 on a high note. Having overcome an extended period of global challenges, we are excited to be planning for the future. Our goal is to provide more programming, greater electronic resources, expanded outreach opportunities, and even more effective collaboration with our outstanding community partners.
How many of you have been patrons of the Handley Library long enough to remember a time before the Bowman Library branch existed? What are your memories of its building and its opening?
20 years ago, on November 4, 2000, the Winchester Hiram Lodge conducted a ceremony setting the cornerstone for the Bowman Library. The stone was taken from the Handley Library building during its 1999-2001 renovations, as a way of symbolizing the unity of the regional system.

November 1st-November 2nd is when the Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) is celebrated in Mexico! During this colorful celebration, friends and families gather to remember the souls of those who have died. What is NaNoWriMo?
Handley Regional Library System announces the Family Traditions Fall Reading Challenge running October 31-December 31. In this unique program, kids and teens can earn online badges, stickers, and other prizes based on number of books and minutes read as they share family traditions, learn about other cultures, and create new memories this holiday season. A mix of online story times and virtual events for kids of all ages will accompany the reading program along with “grab-and-go” kits packed with supplies for specific activities available for pick-up. Digital Library Offerings Grow to Include Career Services and At-Home Learning Resources for Students and Adults During Pandemic
We have expanded the online services available in our 24-Hour Digital Library to the community. Additional digital materials include enhanced resources for job searching and career development, specialized career testing, GED and college test preparations, at-home learning tutorials and practice tests of core educational skills (in both English and Spanish) for students and adults, plus more.
