A Very Merry Unbirthday to you! Join the party in the Land of Merry Unbirthdays!
This week, we'll focus on the Land of Merry Unbirthdays Activity Badge and all of the virtual programs that accompany this. You will find these on Beanstack when you log into your account and click on the tab for Activity Badges. If you don't have your account set up, we have links at the bottom of this post to help you navigate our summer reading program.

Complete 3 activities related to this theme that include the Five Practices of Early Literacy-Talking, Singing, Reading, Writing, Playing - to earn a virtual raffle ticket.

Talking - Talk about past birthdays and show your child pictures of them from birth to their latest birthday. Also talk about your own birthdays when you were a child!

Singing - Watch this short video from the movie Alice & Wonderland.

Sing the “Merry Unbirthday” song together.
- Reading - Check out and read any book from this week’s search tag: #landofmerryunbirthdays

Writing - Draw/Write a birthday card to a friend or family member and send it to them.

Playing - Play this classic birthday party game: Egg and Spoon race.
To play, each participant gets a spoon and an egg (hard boiled or plastic).
Each player must carry their egg on their spoon from the starting line to a turnaround point and back again.
If you have more than one player the egg can be passed off to a teammate who then takes their turn.
If the egg is dropped, the player must stop and retrieve it.
This game will work on coordination and will get your child moving.

Remember, if you watch a virtual program with a story included, it counts towards your logged reading and activity badges, so track those books! Virtual programs have their own activity badges too, so when you go online to watch, look for the corresponding badge and activity through Beanstack. The calendar will give you a hint for the badges to look for.
Each week we'll highlight an activity badge and activities, but keep in mind, you can work on these badges at any time during our summer reading challenge.
