What do poetry, free, teens, finalists, the Winchester Book Gallery, deadlines, and the numbers, 1, 2, 5, and 500 all have in common? They all have to do with 1455's 1st Summer Literary Festival!
For you Teen (13-19) writers out there who have a knack for writing poetry, there is an incredible poetry contest being held during the festival on July 18th-20th. The opportunity to share poetry and art is a great one in and of itself, but in case you need an extra push to participate, the first place winner of the contest will receive a $500 prize! The winner, as well as three finalists, will be able to read their poems on July 19th during a reception at the Winchester Book Gallery. You can submit two poems for consideration, and you have the freedom to write them in any style or length that you would like. The submission is free, so take your chance!
The deadline is coming up soon on July 5th, so be sure to get writing and submit your work! You can submit your entries by emailing them to info@1455litarts.org. Please include a cover letter and a short bio. This wonderful contest is sponsored by Friends of Handley Regional Library.
