Bus Trip to 2019 National Book Festival with the Friends

The Friends of the Handley Regional Library System’s annual bus trip to the 2019 National Book Festival is on August 31st. The cost is $25 per seat and the conference is free and open to the public at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The festival is packed with 140 authors and other programs centered on literacy from every genre. This year’s lineup includes U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, historians David McCullough and Michael Beschloss, celebrity D.C.

Winchester Little Theatre Brings Robin Hood Misdirected to Handley Library

Don't miss Robin Hood Misdirected on July 10th at 3PM at Handley Library. The adaption is from Jack Neary and is given a fresh, funny and exciting spin when the Misdirected Theatre Company fails to show up for a sold-out performance! The author was born on June 25, 1954, in the Bronx borough of New York City. She became the first Latina Supreme Court Justice on May 26, 2009.  Her memoir met the criteria for selection by the committee – has widespread appeal, is available in paperback and Spanish, and is currently in print.
